Summary of council of trustees meetings from June 12-13

Slippery Rock University’s council of trustees met June 12-13, in the Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center. Concluding the two days of committee meetings was the quarterly business meeting when two executive actions were taken:

The council approved the following officers for the 2025-26 academic year:

  • Angèle Stoebener as chair. 
  • Elise Michaux as vice chair.
  • Charli Severo, a senior dual political science and philosophy major from Albion (Northwestern HS), as secretary.

The trustees also approved the following meeting dates for the 2025-26 academic year:

  • Sept. 18-19, 2025
  • Dec. 11-12, 2025
  • March 26-27, 2026
  • June 4-5, 2026

The council also received the President’s Report and reports from standing committees, as well as updates about the following topics: contracts, active projects for facilities and planning, human resources personnel items, budget/finance, divisional reports, CliftonLarsonAllen auditing service, and the comprehensive planning process.

The Academic and Student Affairs Committee meeting included presentations from the following administrators from their respective areas:

  • Michael Zieg, provost and vice president for academic affairs.
  • Michael May, vice president for enrollment management.
  • Ken Bach, senior director, university marketing and communication.
  • David Wilmes, vice president for student affairs.

The Finance and Administrative Affairs Committee meeting included:

  • A presentation about facility asset management by Talis Vitols and Brett Marburger from Gordian (Sightlines).
  • A financial update by Carrie Birckbichler, vice president for finance and administration.
  • Information items regarding the CliftonLarsonAllen auditing service, the comprehensive planning process, contracts, purchases, financial reports, facilities and planning projects, human resources personnel items and a divisional report.

The Governance Committee meeting included:

  • Nomination of council executive officers for academic year 2025-26.
  • Meeting dates for 2025-26.
  • Information items regarding upcoming events and a review of council bylaws.

The University Advancement Committee meeting included an SRU affiliate work group update and presentations from the following administrators from their respective areas:

  • Troy Miller, vice president for university advancement.
  • Kelly Bailey, director of alumni engagement.
  • Dave Hollenbaugh, executive director of the SRU Foundation, Inc., with Mark Palmer, chair, SRU Foundation Board of Directors, providing the foundation’s quarterly report.
