The American College Counseling Association recognized three individuals from Slippery Rock University who are making an impact in their profession.
The following awards were presented at the ACCA’s annual conference on March 6:
- Ken Messina, associate professor of counseling and development, received the Director of the Year award, honoring a college counseling director who has made a significant impact on the national, state or local level.
- Rachel DeMaria, instructor of counseling and development, received the Meritorious Service award, which is presented to an individual who has demonstrated service to the profession of college counseling or to the ACCA.
- Nania Grund, a graduate student majoring in student affairs in higher education, , received the Emerging Leader grant, which is presented to master’s or doctoral students in counseling programs or new professionals withing two years of matriculating from a counseling graduate program. The grant covers the cost of ACCA conference registration and a $500 travel reimbursement.
