Slippery Rock University’s health professions programs maintain a high level of awarded accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
SRU’s recreational therapy program has again been awarded accreditation from the CAAHEP following a recommendation from the Commission on Accreditation of Recreational Therapy Education. CAAHEP establishes a standard for exemplary programs in health care professions.
SRU’s recreational therapy program has been CAAHEP-accredited since 2012, when it became the fourth in the nation to achieve the standard. The program has obtained continuing accreditation through its next evaluation in 2033.
SRU’s recreational therapy program is one of 15 CAAHEP-accredited programs worldwide. The program trains professionals for a career in recreational therapy through clinical experience, professional learning opportunities, internships and research-based study and practice.
