Best-selling author, journalist and storyteller Dashka Slater will speak at Slippery Rock University, at 7 p.m., April 9, in the Smith Student Center Ballroom. Slater will discuss her book, “The 57 Bus,” a true crime narrative that was named to Time magazine’s list of the 100 Best Young Adult Books of All Time.

Slater has been described as a “triple threat” for her success in journalism, adult fiction and children’s literature. Her work has been translated into more than 15 languages, is taught in schools on six continents, and has sold more than a million copies.

The event, part of the University’s Common Read Program, is open to the public. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and following Slater’s talk will be an opportunity for a Q&A and autographs.

More than 1,000 SRU students in dozens of sections of the 100-level Critical Reading class were assigned to read “The 57 Bus.”
