Dear Students,
Welcome to the 2025-26 academic year at Slippery Rock University! We are excited to welcome you back to campus and hope you are looking forward to a great year ahead. Whether you are new to The Rock or a returning student, here are some things we’d like you to consider:
We believe that good people sometimes make bad decisions. We expect students to show maturity, civility, and respect on campus, off campus, and online. When students do make bad decisions, we have a Student Code of Conduct to guide how we respond to behavior that detracts from the SRU experience we want you to have. We encourage you to review the Student Code of Conduct, our disciplinary procedures, and associated policies on things like alcohol, drugs, and sexual misconduct to guide your decision-making.
SRU is a community that holds the belief that hazing has no place in the process of joining any group affiliated with the University and vows to uphold both Pennsylvania and federal laws prohibiting hazing. The University’s Hazing Policy is available to read online and as required by law, SRU posts periodic reports that detail all verified cases of hazing.
A culture of civility and respect includes respecting those whose beliefs, demographics, and opinions differ from our own. Sometimes this also means respecting one’s First Amendment right to communicate their beliefs and opinions, even those that conflict with our own. In these situations, it is noble to agree to disagree.
You are all here because we believe you have something to offer the University, and therefore, deserve to feel like you belong. Our wish is to give everyone the best possible SRU experience. Being away from home can be difficult or we find ourselves in unpredictable situations. Fortunately, SRU has partnered with ConcernCenter to provide a hub for information to help support you.
Welcome back and good luck. Go Rock!
