Visual brand standards updated
SRU’s visual brand standards have been updated. Anyone using SRU’s trademarks, including the University’s name, logos and mascot, to communicate on behalf of their student organization, college, department or other unit, must follow these standards. Download the Guide to Visual Brand Standards here or from the Licensing and Trademark webpage. The most significant changes since the last update in summer 2023 include:
- The primary (wordmark) logo and the modern seal (with Old Main) have a registered trademark ® instead of TM or SM.
- University departments and offices can request the “SRU” secondary logo with their name (previously only the primary logo with their name was an option).
- Updated descriptions and intended uses for each of the six logos.
Reminders and points of emphasis:
- “of Pennsylvania” should not appear on any SRU logo.
- The varsity logo (with script “Rock”) is a retired mark and should not be used.
- The spirit logo (block “S”) should not be used by campus departments, offices and student organizations. It’s used for varsity athletics and licensed apparel and merchandise that represents the University as a whole.
- Digital versions of these logos should be replaced with the current primary logo, but campus signage and other printed materials can wait to be updated when they need to be replaced.
The primary logo can be downloaded for the Licensing and Trademark webpage. For all other logo requests or questions, contact the University Marketing and Communication Office at 724.738.2091 or news@sru.edu.
