Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, 112th Annual Juried Exhibition “Near Here”
September 28 – October 28
Martha Gault Art Gallery proudly presents the 112th Annual Associated Artists of Pittsburgh Exhibition, “Near Here,” which spans a network of university galleries throughout western Pennsylvania, each situated within or near the broader cultural orbit of Pittsburgh: Martha Gault Art Gallery at Slippery Rock University, Media Arts Gallery at Robert Morris University, Kipp Gallery at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Harlan and Jodee Harris Galleries at Seton Hill University. The exhibition invites artists to consider what it means to be near and the conditions through which nearness is formed. The exhibition approaches nearness as malleable, relative, and negotiated through bodies, objects, environments, and geographies.
Presenting artworks by Maggie Bjorklund, Christopher Boring, Bill Brunken, Deanna Chilian, April Friges, Lisa Marie Jakab, Kristen Letts Kovak, Robert Raczka, Nick Sardo, John Tronsor, Scott Turri, Gerald Van Scyoc, and Bradley Weyandt.
Allison Lacher, Director of the Visual Arts Gallery at the University of Illinois, will provide a juror’s tour from noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 24. The entire exhibition is open to the public from Sept. 28 to Oct. 28 during gallery hours.
The Martha Gault Art Gallery is generously sponsored by the Art Department, the College of Liberal Arts, and the Student Government Association. Martha Gault Art Gallery is in 102 Maltby Center, on 108 Maltby Ave, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and is all-accessible by parking and entry on Campus Drive near Rhoads Hall.
