SUMMARY:Entering Oku: Toshiaki Tomita\, Guest Lecturer
DESCRIPTION:In this lecture\, artist and educator Toshiaki Tomita from Saga University explores the Japanese concept of Oku—a sense of inner depth\, hidden dimensions\, and an ongoing movement beyond what is immediately visible. \n\n\n\nThrough reflections on his own artistic practice\, Japanese contemporary art of the 1990s\, Fumihiko Maki’s architectural theory of “Oku\,” and Yu Koyama’s manga Sprinter\, Tomita examines how Oku can be understood as a way of perceiving the relationship between human beings and the unseen forces that transform us.
