In preparation for Slippery Rock University’s spring commencement, several groups were recognized in separate celebrations on campus in the days leading up to the culminating ceremonies. They included:

    • The Doctor of Occupational Therapy program presented their capstone research and participated in a pinning and award ceremony, May 8.

    • Graduating students from the physician assistant studies program participated in a white coat ceremony, May 8. The white coat signifies them entering the professional world of medicine and the ability to care for patients.

    • The Multicultural Senior Celebration, May 8, hosted by the Office for Inclusive Excellence recognizing the accomplishments of graduating seniors who self-identified as multicultural, including those from the Black, Latino, multiracial and LGBTQIA communities. Seniors received stoles representing their cultures that they will wear at the commencement ceremony.

    • The Global Celebration, May 7, recognizing graduating international students and American students who have studied abroad in credit-bearing, long-term programs. Seniors received stoles representing their countries that they will wear at the commencement ceremony.

    • The Rock Life certificate ceremony, April 29, recognizing the five graduates of the post-secondary education program for learners with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
