To the University community,
The Board of Governors of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) has approved a modest undergraduate tuition increase for the 2025-26 academic year, the first since 2018. Complete details can be found online at PASSHE Sets 2025-26 Tuition with Option to Reduce if Funding Increases.
The Board’s decision was made to ensure the State System can continue to provide high-quality, industry-aligned public higher education that fuels Pennsylvania’s workforce and economic growth.
The Pennsylvania General Assembly has been exceptionally generous over the past seven years, which has helped keep tuition flat during this time. This year, PASSHE has requested a 6.5% increase in state funding to help offset a tuition increase for the upcoming academic year. The Board set tuition this week to ensure students, families, and universities have time to prepare for the fall semester.
The provisional tuition increase provides a portion of the necessary funding while we await the final state budget. If sufficient funding is received from the state, the Board will roll back part or all of the tuition increases below:
- The in-state, full-time undergraduate tuition adjustment is an increase of $139 per semester ($278 annually), which brings the annual total to $7,994.
- The out-of-state, full-time undergraduate tuition for students entering SRU with a GPA of 3.0 or greater will be adjusted $418 annually, which brings the annual tuition to $11,992. The out-of-state, full-time undergraduate tuition without the GPA discount will be adjusted $556 annually, which brings the total full-time annual tuition at SRU to $15,988.
- The graduate per-credit tuition at SRU will be adjusted by $18 per credit, which brings the cost per credit to $534.
- Fees that are indexed to tuition will see commensurate increases. We will provide updates online and via email as soon as they are finalized.
