Slippery Rock University is committed to creating a nurturing environment where faculty and staff can thrive, with well-being as an important part of the employee experience. As part of that commitment, SRU welcomed nationally recognized educator, author and executive coach Patrice Buckner Jackson, known as Dr. PBJ, to campus. She led a conversation Oct. 15 in the Smith Student Center that explored how reconnecting with personal values and purpose can help faculty and staff move beyond burnout and find greater well-being, resilience and fulfillment in their work and lives.
Dr. PBJ is a former higher education administrator who has dedicated her career to helping people and organizations create healthier, more sustainable approaches to work and leadership. Through her work as an educator, author, speaker and executive coach, she helps leaders and professionals navigate burnout, workplace well-being and personal growth.
Drawing on more than two decades of experience in higher education, Dr. PBJ has worked with colleges, universities and organizations across the country on issues related to employee well-being, leadership development and organizational culture.
The author of “Disrupting Burnout,” Dr. PBJ is known for her engaging and relatable approach, combining personal experience with research and practical strategies to help people better understand the relationship between well-being, purpose and professional life.
Her Oct. 15 presentation brought that perspective to SRU faculty and staff, offering an opportunity to consider their own well-being and the role it plays in their work and lives.
Sponsored by the SRU President’s Commissions, the event was part of SRU’s ongoing efforts to support faculty and staff and foster a campus environment where employees can find purpose, connection and fulfillment in their work. Dr. PBJ is also meeting with members of the SRU administrative council, Oct. 16, for a presentation titled “Leading with Brilliance and Civility: Building a Culture That Sustains Us All.”
