Slippery Rock University student Megan Evans recently had her artwork positioned on a coveted display on campus: at residence of SRU President Karen Riley.
Evans, a senior art major from Zelienople (Freedom HS), is the winner of the Fall 2026 SRU President’s Student Art in Residence Award. Since 2023, SRU art faculty have selected student art for display in the foyer of the president’s home where guests attending special events can enjoy the work.
“It’s a great honor, and I was really surprised,” Evans said. “There are so many great artists in our department, so I’m incredibly thankful.”
Evans’s display consists of four distinct pieces, all made from unique materials and styles, such as dryer sheets, embroidery, watercolor, collage work and digital design. On display are “Tread Lightly,” “Birds of the Air,” “Lilies of the Valley,” and “Love Beyond Lines.”
“All the artwork is about love and appreciating the world around me, because art is a gift and I love being able to do it. It’s my joy,” Evans said.
