A Slippery Rock University student can now add “MVP at the Super Bowl” to his resume. Well, it’s not what most people might think, but he was among a select few honored for their performance at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans earlier this year.
Niko O’Toole, a senior sport management major from Pittsburgh, was named a “Super Bowl Teammate MVP” award winner after working at the NFL’s premier event in February.
O’Toole was part of a group of SRU sport management students who served as staff workers, Feb. 7-9, at the NFL Super Bowl Experience and other functions surrounding the game.
MoonShot, the provider of customer service training for the NFL, provided Super Bowl mini helmets that served as trophies, and professors who led student groups submitted applications for their top performing workers. O’Toole was one of 10 Super Bowl Teammate MVPs selected from among the more than 1,500 college students who worked at the event.
“This means a lot because it shows the hard work that I’m putting in, and hopefully others will see as well as I’m looking for jobs in the future,” O’Toole said. “Working at the Super Bowl was great because I got to meet a lot of people from all around the world and I got to do a lot of different jobs.”
More information about the SRU students’ Super Bowl experience is available on the University’s website.
