Slippery Rock University announced the hiring of Tim Richart as senior director of annual giving and alumni relations.

Following a national search, Slippery Rock University has a new leader who will engage with members of the alumni community and help direct fundraising strategies. SRU hired Tim Richart as senior director of annual giving and alumni engagement.

In this role, Richart will be responsible for managing both the annual giving and alumni relations strategies and offices within SRU’s University Advancement division. In addition, he will manage an external portfolio of SRU alumni and friends. He starts at SRU May 19.

“This is an important role for continuing to enhance SRU’s culture of engagement, where our alumni, friends and supporters see themselves not only as donors, but partners,” said Troy Miller, vice president for university advancement. “Tim is the right person to manage this endeavor, and we look forward to him taking us to the next level.”

A veteran of more than 25 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Richart will come to SRU after serving as the director of development at Literacy Pittsburgh since 2018. Richart oversaw fundraising strategies and a team of fundraisers for Literacy Pittsburgh, building and managing philanthropic and community partnerships that resulted in giving from both public and private sources.

Richart is returning to higher education after serving as a major gift officer at Grove City College from 2014-18, during which he managed a portfolio of more than 300 major donors.

“I’m honored to join SRU’s Advancement team,” Richart said. “It’s an exciting privilege to help strengthen the connection between SRU and its amazing alumni, while also fueling the future of higher education through fundraising and supporting a community that believes in the power of education and tradition.”

A resident of Cranberry Township, Richart is an active leader in the nonprofit community where he has been involved with the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Western PA for more than a decade, serving as a member of the executive board for many of those years. He is active as a committee chair for Scouting America, Troop 404, and as a board member of History Harmony.
