The Commission on Sport Management Accreditation has reaffirmed SRU's sport management for another seven years, confirming the quality of the program that provides students experience in the sports industry, including annual trips to work at the Super Bowl.

As a proven leader in preparing professionals for the sports industry, Slippery Rock University has once again met the highest standards of academic quality and professional relevance for its sport management program. The program has been granted reaffirmation of accreditation from the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), a recognition reserved for programs that demonstrate exceptional outcomes, continuous improvement and a commitment to student success.

SRU first attained COSMA accreditation in 2010 and the latest reaffirmation covers a maximum time period of seven years, through February 2033.

Through the sport management curriculum, students learn to apply business skills including finance, accounting, advertising, marketing, social media, economics, legal issues, rules compliance, fundraising, facility operations, leadership and data analytics to the sport industry. Through the completion of four practicums, 120 volunteer hours and a semester-long internship, students are able to develop a focused career path.

As one of the nation’s first and most prominent sport management programs, SRU benefits from a strong alumni network of more than 1,000 graduates working across the sports industry—professionals who remain actively engaged and ready to help current students with job and internship placement.

More information about the sport management at SRU is available on the program’s webpage. More information about COSMA accreditation is available at cosmaweb.org.
