Recognizing Slippery Rock University’s longstanding culture of environmental consciousness and commitment to sustainability, the Princeton Review once again named SRU as one of its “Green Colleges.” SRU achieved this designation for the 17th straight year in 2026.
SRU was listed among 388 colleges this year, all of whom received scores of 80 or higher on the ranking scale of 60 to 99. SRU’s green rating is 87.
Scores were compiled from 25 distinctive data points collected primarily from institutional surveys, which includes questions about food expenditures, diverting waste from landfills and having a formal plan to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
The Princeton Review has noted students’ observable, growing interest in attending green schools, saying that “of more than 7,000 student that participated in the 2025 College Hopes & Worries Survey, 59% said that information about a college’s commitment to the environment would affect their decision to apply to or attend the school.”
The complete Green Colleges ranking is available to view on The Princeton Review Website.
