Slippery Rock University is celebrating the contributions and accomplishments of women during March. The University is also empowering women and educating the entire campus community with a series of Women’s History Month programs and events.
Coordinated by SRU’s Office for Inclusive Excellence, the following events are available for members of the campus community. More information is available on CORE, SRU’s online platform for student organizations and events.
- March 4 – Trans Vocal Pedagogy Lecture, featuring Cee Adamson, 8-9:15 a.m. in the Swope Music Hall, Swope Choir Room. Sponsored by SRU Choirs and the President’s Commission on Gender Identity & Expression and Sexual Orientation. Adamson will also be available to students for vocal health consultation hours, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 5, by appointment: schedule using an online form).
- March 5 – Feminine Influence Series: Empowering Women in STEM Careers, 5 p.m. in Smith Student Center, Ballroom A. Sponsored by the Women’s Center.
- March 5 – Ballet Folklórico de México, 5:30 p.m. at Byham Theater in Pittsburgh. For students: bus from Smith Student Center and students must register on CORE. Sponsored by the Fredrick Douglass Institute and the Dance Department.
- March 6 – Chambers Singers Baroque Ensemble, featuring strings faculty, 7:30 p.m. Swope Music Hall, Swope Recital Hall. Sponsored by SRU Choirs, the President’s Commission on Gender Identity & Expression and Sexual Orientation, and the President’s Commission on Women.

- March 25 – Start Smart Salary Negotiation Training, noon to 1:15 p.m. at Smith Student Center, Room 321. Sponsored by the Women’s Center and the Gender Studies program.
- April 2 – What’s the Tea: Sustainable Menstrual Products and Natural Remedies, 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Smith Student Center, Theater. Sponsored by the Women’s Center, Macoskey Center.
