SRU receives several ‘Best of’ accolades from Washington Monthly

As a recognized leader in providing the highest quality education at the lowest price, Slippery Rock University has received high marks in Washington Monthly’s 2025 College Guide and Rankings. SRU was cited in categories pertaining to degrees offered and the cost effectiveness of an institution’s education.

SRU ranked in the top 12% for “Best Master’s Universities,” top 22% for “Best Colleges,” and was named a “Best Bang for the Buck” college in the Northeastern region.

SRU rankings are:

  • #74out of 580 for “Best Master’s Universities,” a category that ranks “institutions that award a significant number of master’s degrees but few or no doctoral degrees.” On top of its robust offering of master’s programs, SRU also offers four doctoral programs.
  • #309 out of 1417 schools for the “Best Colleges” category which ranks schools according to their relative value in terms of both tuition and tax dollars.
  • #211 out of 369 schools for the “Best Bang for the Buck” in the Northeastern region. The category is ranked according to how well an institution helps “nonwealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.”
