Three Slippery Rock University students from esports courses wrote articles that were published on the global health education site #SlowChatHealth.
- Josh Myers, a sophomore dual computing and cybersecurity major from Clark (Sharpsville HS), authored an article titled “Sit Up, Game On: How Gamer Posture Can Make or Break Your Health,”
- Marc Lucente, a sophomore strategic communication and media major from Coraopolis (Moon HS) wrote an article titled “How Can Esports Impact Sleep?“
- Lexus Gibbs, a senior theatre major from Ellwood City (Laurel HS), wrote an article titled “How Screen Time May Be Affecting Your Health as an Esports Player.”
All three students took classes taught by Seth Jenny, associate professor of exercise science. Myers and Lucente took Jenny’s “Introduction to Esports” course, while Gibbs took Jenny’s “Current Issues in Esports Health and Society” course.
Both courses are required within SRU’s undergraduate esports minor, as well as within the Rock Integrated Studies Program at SRU.
