Slippery Rock University continues to be a top destination for community college transfer students, helping them achieve an affordable bachelor’s degree and long-term career success. Thanks to a scholarship from Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education, the cost of attending SRU became even more affordable for several outstanding transfer students.
The following students were among the 28 top-performing community college transfer students bound for State System universities in fall 2026 who were awarded free tuition:
- Cristiana Schaefer, a public health major from Industry, who is transferring from the Community College of Beaver County.
- Taylor Voloch, a psychology major from West Sunbury (Moniteau HS), who is transferring from the Butler County Community College.
- Sarah Windsheimer, an early childhood and special education major from Hookstown (South Side HS), who is transferring from the Community College of Beaver County.
These students were selected by their community colleges and named to the prestigious 2026 All-Pennsylvania Academic Team. The State System and its 10 public universities partnered with Pennsylvania’s 15 community colleges to create the program, which has supported nearly 1,000 students over the past two decades.
Community college students who earn associate degrees are guaranteed admission as juniors at State System universities, with more than 99% of their transfer credits accepted toward degree completion. More than 200 community college students transfer to SRU each year.
In 2023, the presidents of all State System universities and Pennsylvania community colleges strengthened their partnership to help students achieve their educational goals, reduce costs, and support workforce development across the state.
