SRU Theatre presents ‘A Grand Night for Singing’ May 2

Audiences will have two chances on May 2 to experience the Slippery Rock University Theatre Department’s production of “A Grand Night for Singing, Musical Revue”by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. The show will be directed by a variety of SRU students with artistic oversight by Aaron Galligan-Stierle, an associate professor of theatre. Showtimes are at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Stoner West’s Dance Studio Theater. Tickets can be purchased online at sru.edu/tickets.

“A Grand Night for Singing”is a musical revue from the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, featuring selected songs from various hit productions like “The Sound of Music,” “Oklahoma!” and “Carousel.”You won’t want to miss this showcase of talent from SRU’s theatre community.

  • Adele Baldina, a junior acting major from Raleigh, North Carolina (Leesville Road HS).
  • Demiah Brown, a senior acting major from Beaver Falls (Beaver Falls HS), also choreographing.
  • Maddie Buffone, a junior acting major from Ernest (Marion Center HS).
  • Care Caldwell, a junior acting major Lexington, KY (Trinity Christian Academy HS), also directing and choregraphing.
  • Jack Cipriani, a senior theatre major from Moon Township (Moon HS), also directing and choreographing.
  • Giovanni Clark, a junior acting major from Beaver Falls (Beaver Falls HS).
  • Sophia Condit, a senior acting major from Bonita Springs, Florida, also directing and choreographing.
  • McKenna Cover, a senior acting major from Lakewood, Colorado (Develyn HS), also directing and choreographing.
  • Aidan Duez, a senior acting major from Kingwood, Texas (Kingwood HS), also directing.
  • Miri Elise, a senior acting major from Mason, Ohio (William Mason HS) also directing, choreographing and coordinating costumes..
  • Joseph Estok, a junior acting major from Latrobe (Westinghouse Arts Academy HS).

  • Katelynn Handa, a senior acting major from Pittsburgh (Westinghouse Arts Academy HS), also directing and choreographing.

  • Belle Trask, a senior acting major from Murphy, Texas (Plano East HS).
  • Zoie Wade, a senior acting major from Plano, Texas (Booker T. Washington HS), also directing and choreographing.

Not included in the cast and serving as a director and choreographer:

  • Joseph Digney, a senior acting major Marysville, Ohio (Marysville HS).

The creative team includes:

  • Aaron Galligan-Stierle as artistic oversight.
  • Lincoln Sandham, an instructor of music, as music supervisor and pianist.
  • Mallory Lohns, as stage manager.
  • Samantha Kuchta, an assistant professor of theatre, as lighting designer.
