Nicholas Artman, a Slippery Rock University associate professor of strategic communication and media, and Joseph Gamza, a senior strategic communication and media major from Pittsburgh, recently won awards as part of the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts.
Artman won the Best of Competition award in the Sports Radio category of the Faculty Sports Competition for his radio talk show “Flagship City Sports Talk,” specifically for the segment titled “D10 High School Players of the Week – 10/14/24.” Gamza won an Award of Excellence for his production titled “Absinthe” in the Non-Narrative Audio category of the Student Audio Competition.
The BEA Festival of Media Arts is an international refereed exhibition of faculty creative activities and a national showcase for student work. The festival winners were selected from a pool of more than 2,285 entries from BEA members, representing more than 300 colleges and universities across the world.
Artman and Gamza will be recognized at an awards ceremony at BEA’s annual convention, April 7, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
