SRU Honors Flute Ensemble concert returns Feb. 25

Slippery Rock University is hosting its annual Honors Flute Ensemble Concert, Feb. 25, at the Swope Music Hall with Cassandra Eisenreich, a SRU associate professor of music, among the more than 45 flutists performing.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University will host its annual Honors Flute Ensemble concert, 7 p.m., Feb. 25, in the Swope Music Hall. Cost is $10 for general admission and tickets can be purchased online or in person at the Swope Music Hall ticket counter.

The concert will feature more than 24 local high school students and 20 SRU music students with guest performances from Cassandra Eisenreich, a SRU associate professor of music; Eftihia Arkoudis, a performer, teacher and director of the West Virginia University’s Community Music Program; Ali Ryerson, a globally traveled flutist; and Stephen Neely, a Carnegie Mellon University associate professor of music.

“The SRU Honors Flute Ensemble is celebrating its 10th year and has brought to life more than 20 new pieces of music specifically commissioned for the group,” said Eisenreich. “I am looking forward to engaging students in a diverse and meaningful music-making experience that inspires them to fully express themselves in an authentic and artistic way.”
