Angèle Stoebener named chair of Pennsylvania Association of Council of Trustees

Angèle Stoebener, ’06, is the chair of the Pennsylvania Association of Council of Trustees, the statewide body that strengthens trustee leadership across the 10 universities in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education.

A Slippery Rock University trustee, alumna and business professional has been appointed to lead the statewide trustee organization. Angèle Stoebener, ’06, is the new chair of the Pennsylvania Association of Council of Trustees (PACT), the statewide body that strengthens trustee leadership across the 10 universities in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).

As chair, Stoebener will lead an organization that educates trustees on national trends in higher education, facilitates communication between trustees and PASSHE leadership, including the chancellor and Board of Governor, and delivers professional development opportunities to strengthen trustee service across the State System.

Stoebener brings a rare combination of institutional history, professional expertise and statewide perspective to the role. Appointed to the SRU Council of Trustees in 2024, she previously served as the student trustee from 2004–06, building early experience in governance, shared leadership and student advocacy.

“Angèle brings exactly the kind of leadership and institutional commitment that PACT needs at this moment,” said SRU President Karen Riley. “Her deep ties to SRU, combined with her professional expertise, position her exceptionally well to serve our trustees and advance the State System.”

PACT’s mission is to equip trustees with the knowledge, context and professional development needed to guide Pennsylvania’s public universities. Through conferences, workshops and ongoing engagement, PACT connects trustees with national trends in higher education, emerging State System issues and opportunities to strengthen academic and administrative excellence.

“Angèle’s deep understanding of the State System, her professional acumen and her long-standing commitment to public higher education make her an exceptional choice to lead PACT,” said PASSHE Chancellor Christopher Fiorentino. “Her leadership will strengthen trustee engagement at a pivotal moment for Pennsylvania’s public universities.”

Stoebener, a Natrona Heights native, is a Senior Vice President, Business Credit Team Leader at First National Bank (FNB) in Pittsburgh, where she oversees a diversified asset‑based lending portfolio and mentors a team of credit professionals. Her background includes fraud and forensics, corporate security instruction at SRU and leadership roles in internal networking and development groups at FNB. She is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and an active SRU alumna.

Stoebener will guide PACT’s statewide efforts to support trustees, elevate best practices and advance the mission of the State System.

More information about the PACT is available online. More information about the council of trustees is available on the SRU website.
