The Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber named Slippery Rock University President Karen Riley the recipient of its 2025 Prestigious Business Leader Award on May 8 at their Annual Awards Gala.
The award recognized Riley as “a member of the chamber who demonstrates exceptional personal and professional qualities, including honesty, sincerity, and integrity, and who has made outstanding contributions to the community,” and her positioning of SRU as a first-choice destination for students to learn and employers to recruit talented graduates.
“As a thriving public institution, SRU has met the economic and social needs of the surrounding communities we serve,” Riley said. “That inextricably links us to the region, its industries and businesses, and most of all, its people. We will continue to meet the needs through new programs, approaches, and partnerships.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized among many impressive business leaders in our region, and I humbly accept this award on behalf of the University and our great team of faculty and staff who positively impact the community and help make this award possible.”
Riley was among six individuals and organizations presented with awards at the PNRC’s gala held at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Woods. The PNRC consists of 1,100 businesses and organizations that employ nearly 24,000 employees in Allegheny, Beaver, and Butler counties. The PNRG’s mission is to create new opportunities for business growth through networking, cooperation, advocacy, and education.
