Slippery Rock University provided immersive experiences for high school students interested in developing their vocal musical talents by hosting two summer voice academies, June 22 to July 3.

The Summer Voice Academy, June 22-27, provided students one-on-one voice lessons, diction coaching, classes, solo and ensemble rehearsals, and other collaborative choral experiences across two tracks: classical and musical theatre.

The GEAR UP Voice Academy, June 29 to July 3, was for students enrolled in the PA GEAR UP program, a college readiness initiative funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant.

Both programs, which culminated with a concert performance by the participants, were hosted by the SRU Music Department with faculty and SRU students serving as mentors and instructors. More information about music summer programs is available on the department’s webpage.
