Acclaimed for producing highly skilled graduates who are in demand by petroleum and natural gas employers in Pennsylvania, one of Slippery Rock University’s emerging engineering programs is gaining more praise.
University Magazine has named SRU among its 25 Best Colleges for Petroleum Engineering. Citing the practical experience students receive in campus labs, as well as cooperative job placements with Pennsylvania operators, University Magazine editors touted SRU’s program for developing graduates who “leave with solid technical backgrounds and adaptability valued by employers.”
SRU students conduct drilling fluid tests and reservoir simulations in one of six engineering laboratories, and they also gain critical field experiences in well completions and production operations.
The petroleum and natural gas engineering program, which was first offered at SRU in 2016, is fully accredited by ABET, a non-governmental organization that accredits college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.
