The Princeton Review has named Slippery Rock University a top college in its region for 2026. SRU was one of 98 institutions designated as “Best Mid-Atlantic” colleges and universities in the 2026 Best Colleges: Region by Region Guide.
The “regional best” designation is only given to approximately a quarter of the nation’s four-year institutions, and schools that make these lists are considered “academically outstanding and well worth consideration in your college search” by the Princeton Review editors.
The Princeton Review Best Colleges: Region by Region Guide is not a ranking of schools. Schools are listed alphabetically and grouped into seven zones — Northeast, South, Southwest, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, West and International. The Mid-Atlantic region encompasses five states — Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia — and the District of Columbia.
Recogniton is based on the Princeton Review’s findings in eight categories: academics and administration, quality of life, politics, campus life, town life, extracurriculars, and social scene. These categories come from surveys of administrators at the schools who provide their institutions’ data annually.
