Slippery Rock University proudly received official accolades for its commitment to supporting and empowering women in the classroom and beyond. Newsweek, in collaboration with certification company Gender Fair, ranked SRU:
- #73 for America’s Best Colleges for Women.
- #5 for Pennsylvania’s Best Colleges for Women.
These rankings were calculated from scores across categories of leadership; pay and policies; safety; and opportunities. Newsweek used federally reported data to offer insights into a unique and critical area of the college decision making process that many young women consider while applying to colleges.
Newsweek Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Cunningham described the vital decision of choosing a college of being about more than academics, stressing the importance of academically rigorous institutions that support students holistically.
“It’s about finding a place to thrive, to lead and to build the foundation for a successful future,” Cunningham said. “The college experience should empower every student to reach their full potential, and for women, that means attending an institution that prioritizes leadership opportunities, equitable pay practices, campus safety and meaningful pathways to success.”
