Giving Day is an opportunity for SRU alumni, students, parents, employees and friends of the University to make a gift in support of SRU student scholarships, clubs, organizations, academic programs, athletic teams and more.

Slippery Rock University will “Rock Around the Clock” on March 26 for its annual Giving Day. This one-day campaign is an opportunity for SRU alumni, students, parents, employees and friends of the University to make a gift in support of SRU student scholarships, clubs, organizations, academic programs, athletic teams and more.

Now in its 10th year, Giving Day has raised more than $3 million thanks to the generous support from the SRU community. Last year more than 2,000 donors participated in Giving Day.  The goal this year is to reach 2,500 participants.

“Our theme this year, Rock Around the Clock, celebrates the steady rhythm of support that keeps SRU strong all year long,” said Tim Richart, senior director of annual giving and alumni engagement. “We’re grateful for our community that consistently shows up to invest in our students, helping ensure they have access to opportunities that shape their futures and create lasting impact in communities and industries. That’s what Giving Day represents — coming together to empower students and advance our mission of enhancing lives.”

Gifts help expand student learning and growth opportunities across campus. Challenges initiated by Greek organizations, athletic teams, academic departments and other groups allow them to earn additional funds by receiving the most gifts or having the most donors. A complete list of challenges will be revealed on the Giving Day webpage on March 26.

Here’s how people can participate in Giving Day:

  • GIVE ON GIVING DAY: Make online contributions on SRU’s Giving Day webpage on March 26. When completing the online donation form, donors can designate their gift to any area on campus they would like to support. SRU students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and other community members can also join in the celebration at the Smith Student Center Ballroom from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. to make their gift and participate in Giving Day activities throughout the day, including prizes, games and snacks.
  • GIVE IN PERSON: Visit the University Advancement team in Old Main, Room 100, to make an in-person donation, now through March 26.
  • GIVE NOW: Make an early gift on the Giving Day webpage. All gifts made before 11:59 p.m., March 26 will count toward SRU’s Giving Day totals.
  • In addition to donating online, Giving Day participants can contribute by phone by calling 724.738.2004 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by mail to: SRU Foundation, Inc., 1 Morrow Way, 100 Old Main, Slippery Rock, PA, 16057.
  • BECOME AN ADVOCATE: Donors can create a profile on the Giving Day website and become an “Advocate,” which allows participants to track the number of clicks, gifts and dollars they personally generated for the campaign. Advocates can also create challenges and matches, as well as Personal Pleas, which are short videos explaining why they give and encouraging others to join them in supporting the campaign.
  • SPREAD THE WORD: Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag #SRUGivingDay on social media and share stories about why they give and spread awareness about SRU programs, organizations and projects.

More information about Giving Day is available on the Giving Day webpage or by emailing questions to advancement@sru.edu.
