SRU council of trustees to meet June 4-5

The Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center at SRU is the site for the University's council of trustees meetings.

Slippery Rock University’s council of trustees will meet June 4-5 in the Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center. Committee meetings are scheduled for both days, followed by the quarterly business meeting.  A Zoom option is available with advanced registration for those who wish to attend the meetings but are unable to do so in person.   
  
The following meetings are open to the public:  

  • Academic and Student Affairs Committee, 2-3 p.m., June 4.  
  • Finance and Administrative Affairs Committee, 3:15-4:15 p.m., June 4.  
  • University Advancement Committee, 9-9:45 a.m., June 5.  
  • Governance Committee, 10-10:30 a.m., June 5.  
  • Quarterly business meeting, 10:30 a.m., June 5.

The Academic and Student Affairs Committee meeting will include presentations from the following administrators:  

  • Michael Zieg, provost and vice president for academic affairs.  
  • Michael May, vice president for enrollment management.  
  • Ken Bach, senior director, university marketing and communication.  
  • David Wilmes, vice president for student affairs.  

The Finance and Administrative Affairs Committee meeting will include:  

  • A presentation about facility asset management by Talis Vitols from Gordian (Sightlines).
  • A financial update by Carrie Birckbichler, vice president for finance and administration.  
  • Information items regarding the CliftonLarsonAllen auditing service planning communication, the comprehensive planning process, contracts, purchases, financial reports, facilities and planning projects, human resources personnel items and a divisional report.

The University Advancement Committee meeting will include an SRU affiliate work group update and presentations from the following administrators and representatives:  

  • Troy Miller, vice president for university advancement. 
  • Tim Richart, senior director of annual giving and alumni engagement.  
  • Dave Hollenbaugh, executive director of the SRU Foundation, Inc., providing the foundation’s quarterly report.

The Governance Committee meeting will include:  

  • Proposed action items for council of trustee officers and meeting dates for 2026-27.
  • Discussions about a proposal to move to one-day trustees meetings and emeritus policy with council designation. 
  • Informational items about calendar mentions and trustee bylaws. 

At the quarterly business meeting, the council will receive the President’s Report and a presentation about the industry support for engineering programs by Nicole Dafoe, dean of the College of Engineering and Science. The meeting will also include reports from standing committees, as well as updates about the following topics: contracts, active projects for facilities and planning, human resources personnel items, budget/finance, construction management proposals, and divisional reports.  

Scheduled action items for the council to vote on include:  

  • The annual certifying resolution for the order of succession.
  • Council of trustee officers for 2026-27.
  • Council of trustees meeting dates for 2026-27.
