Tarek Eshak, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of public health, recently co-authored an article that was published in the National Library of Medicine titled “Syndemic of Substance Abuse, Depression, and Type 2 Diabetes and Their Association with Retention in Care Among People Living with HIV.” The article details the relationship between substance abuse, depression, and type 2 diabetes and the effects the diagnoses have on care given to patients with HIV.
